Standard side-scroller/fighter
Metro3D's Dual Blades offers violent fighting action. But as fight games go, it's the best yet for the Game Boy Advance.
The game is set in 150 B.C., during the Hun Empire. You, as a fighter, possess a power to slay enemies. Meanwhile, the fearsome Alperen has merged his soul and an immortal sword to create the legendary Dual Blades weapon. You'll have to survive battle after battle and ultimately take on Alperen himself to gain the sword and immortality.
The game offers nine fairly detailed fighters, each with their own strengths and attacks. The game lets you string a limited number of moves together into combos; offers big attacks and depicts gruesome finishing moves that include decapitations and dismemberments. An interesting innovation, you get to choose a pair of attacks that will give you various boosts or combinations, which adds a strategic element to the fight genre.
The graphics are excellent and adequately presents different looks for the fighters, as well as backgrounds. A plus, two may fight via the Game Boy Advance Link Cable. On the whole, Dual Blades isn't a deep game, but as a fight title for the Game Boy Advance, it definitely succeeds.
