Serving Mario with a distinct adventure flavor, Nintendo's Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is a fun roleplay game for the Game Boy Advance. Those who appreciate a bit more depth in their Mario games, and even those who simply enjoy a good Mario title can have fun with this one.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga follows the adventures of the famous Mario Bros in a massive new land as they search for a villain who stole Princess Peach's voice. The game features humorous dialogue, turn-based battle, dungeon crawling, puzzles and jumping challenges that are reminiscent of those in platform games. In true roleplay style, the game lets players increase the stats and powers of the main characters. There are also lots of fun mini-games.
The controls let players manipulate the brothers together or separately. Sometimes, players will need to use the brothers by themselves to get to certain places by using the powers of each. And at other times, players will want to combine the powers of both to take out powerful bad guys. The combo play along with the creative and humorous situations make this game a stand out.
The graphics are colorful and well done. The violence is cartoon like-this is, after all, a Mario game.
In all, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is a first rate title that is very entertaining and has wide appeal. In fact, it's one of the finest GBA games that we have seen to date.
