Those who love the gentle action of Donkey Kong will enjoy Nintendo's Donkey Kong Country 2. This sequel not only provides new scenarios, but increases the capabilities of its main characters and provides fun mini-games. Like the original game for the Super NES from almost a decade ago, the game offers lots of arcade monkeying around that may be enjoyed by almost everyone.
Much like its predecessors, Donkey Kong Country 2 is an excellent side-scrolling arcade game that tests a player's reflexes. It seems that the fiendish Kaptain K. Rool has kidnapped Donkey Kong, and it's up to Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to rescue him. Of course, there's lots of fun and challenging action that has players jumping, avoiding traps, activating switches, swinging from vines, battling bosses and more.
Gamers get to play as both Diddy and Dixie Kong, each of which have their own strengths and weaknesses, and can execute Diddy's Cartwheel attack and Dixie's Helicopter Spin. There's also a fun team-up attack. The levels are varied and entertaining and the game presents a definite challenge that should keep the most dexterous of kids busy for a long time.
In addition to the involving main quest, the game features lots of fun mini-games. And there are activities to challenge friends in brand-new bonus games such as Funky's Flights and Bag a Bug. The graphics are detailed and colorful and do a great job of depicting the environments and characters. While the game features lots of fighting and combat, the violence mostly consists of jumping on top of enemies.
Anyone who loves Donkey Kong will enjoy Donkey Kong Country 2. And those who are in need of a challenge can find it here.
