Sometimes, it's fun to play a game that's literally off the beaten track and lets you recklessly race. And for this, AKA Acclaim's ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 delivers a fun four-wheel arcade racing game that's loaded with outrageous stunts and big air. It's a solid game, and the only ATV title for the GameCube.

ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 features some 20 riders, including professionals such as Dana Creech and Kory Ellis; 15 tracks; five environments that include a forest, beach, swamp, construction site, and icy plain; liberal game physics that let players pull huge air and perform outrageous power slides; and some 20 freestyle tricks. It features an attack button that lets players kick others off of their bikes, which adds a fun, relatively harmless element. The game is also easy to learn and play.

The title offers the typical single race, career, and arcade modes, as well as freestyle, challenge, and time trail modes. Some modes ask you to execute a certain number of tricks or navigate a course within a set time. The game also offers fun split-screen multi-player modes. The graphics are excellent with detailed environments and riders, and the audio features edgy songs from artists such as The Rollins Band, Godsmack and Box Car Racer.

ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 offers fun ATV racing with a definite edge. And if there's only going to be one ATV action game on the GameCube, it's good that it's this one.
