For those who have always known that their Sims were destined for greatness, Electronic Arts' newest The Sims Superstar lets Sims effectively go for the glory. The add-on, which requires the original The Sims game, lets players pursue fame and fortune to become a rock star, movie star or supermodel. The add-on is a worthy one that adds lots of entertaining new experiences.

The original The Sims, which was released a couple of years ago, is an innovative title that lets players create, manage, and control the virtual lives of tiny computerized people who live in miniature homes. It's a first class strategy game that lets players create a household of tiny people, or "sims," and then conduct their virtual lives, which includes feeding them, sending them to work, and having them meet and interact with other computer-controlled sims in their neighborhoods.

The game's clever premise and excellent execution that includes good animated characters, entertaining music and sound effects, and detailed scenery, makes for a compelling game experience. And fans responded and made the title one of the most popular ever.

With The Sims Superstar, players can follow their Sims to work as they pursue fame and fortune. Fledgling Sims start by signing with an agent and shuttling to Studio Town, a new destination that offers television and movie lots, recording studios and fashion facilities. Once there, Sims can schmooze, network and name drop their way to stardom in the movies, music or fashion.

A new cast of characters that include a fashion designer, record producer and movie director assist the Sims in their celebrity quest. Life in the spotlight would not be complete without the glare of the paparazzi, the adoration of groupies, and the annoyance of an obsessed fan or two. Sims in need of indulgence and pampering can enjoy a day spa, complete with mud treatments; steam baths; massages and an oxygen bar.

Domestic staff is also available for hire so manicured Sims won't chap their hands with the drudgeries of household maintenance. New objects include a skydiving simulator, satellite dish, and an art and furniture collection that converts an ordinary Sims abode into a mansion. To accommodate all of the new situations, the add-on brings lots of entertaining new animations to the game.

Players will find the new Superstar scenarios challenging. There are lots of factors that have to be managed that include working on personal skills-creativity, charisma, and others-and dealing with the press and lots more. In fact, The Superstar add-on presents challenges that are harder than anything the series has yet presented to players.

As an add-on, The Sims Superstar doesn't change the basic Sims game, but it's a first rate expansion that is very entertaining. Those who love The Sims will find new worlds to explore and lots to like.
