Trouble in Paradise offers an arcade activity that's set in three different Hawaiian-themed areas. Essentially a 3D platform game, the title feels much like a poor copy of the popular Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation. In the game, kids play as Lilo and Stitch to complete tasks, avoid obstacles, battle creatures, and collect objects in some 21 linear levels.

Stitch can roll, spit and spin, while Lilo uses a magical doll to induce "voodoo" (which is out of character). Both characters are controlled in a similar manner. Lilo, the cute, Hawaiian girl, isn't as much fun to control and play because she has fewer moves. Lilo can only jump, pick up oil canisters that may be later detonated, and attack with voodoo. Stitch, on the other hand, can jump and spit on enemies, and has spin and roll attacks. Since you can't choose which character to play on each level-this is decided for you-playing as Lilo only leaves you itching to play as Stitch.

If this were the only problem, Lilo & Stitch Trouble in Paradise wouldn't be a bad game, but the game's execution is sorely lacking. To start, it's frustrating to use the game's insensitive controls to jump onto platforms and attack, and this frustration is compounded when you try to jump onto moving platforms. All attacks are short-range. The game could have used some long-range attacks for variety.

The visuals and sound effects are adequate, but clearly not state of the art. In the end, sloppy execution makes Disney's Lilo & Stitch in Trouble in Paradise for PC frustrating to play and aptly named. Youngsters who love the movie and will want to play the game will quickly lose interest in it. An animated movie that's this good deserves a better arcade game.
