Edgy elements
For MX fans, Activision's MTX: Mototrax offers a fast, exciting motocross game with tricks and good online action.
In its career mode, players embark on a quest to become the ultimate MX athlete, using their skills and savvy to compete in motocross, supercross and freestyle competitions. Gamers have fun winning races, earning money and attracting sponsors in races that occur in locales such as the Hawaiian Islands, Bayou and Australian Outback.
Ultimately, players may race in an exclusive ESPN X Games level where they compete against top pros. The game features legendary racer and freestyle rider Travis Pastrana, as well as 12 other top riders.
If players want to concentrate on tricks-the game offers an exceptional trick system-there are freestyle courses where they may do so. And the title also offers Tony Hawk-inspired free ride modes that serve objectives-a nice addition to motocross-themed video games.
Customization features let players create riders, build race tracks and upgrade bikes and gear. The game's good online multi-player modes let up to seven participate in high-speed racing action on 20 tracks. And players can also challenge one other player in a split-screen mode. The game looks great and serves little violence.
Like the Tony Hawk games, MTX: Mototrax offers an edgy and fun experience that appeals to kids and keeps bad elements to a minimum. It's a good game with appeal and players don't have to be into MX to enjoy it.
