Reinforcing the notion that Sony's PSP is simply a console player that looks like a portable handheld, Activision's Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix plays much as it did on the console and adds four new levels to enhance the single-play.

Tony Hawk's Underground offers a customizable game that asks players to accomplish various skateboarding goals: creating combos accomplishing objectives, executing tricks with certain objects and more. Players are chosen by Tony Hawk to take on Bam Margera in a globetrotting road trip known as the World Destruction Tour.

Players invade international cities and wreak havoc with their boards. Instead of trying to become skateboard stars, they're causing damage and destruction where ever they go. As in prior games, each level provides a series of goals that players have to accomplish. The game features the sticker slap, a slow motion mode and a freak out meter, which further recreate the console game experience.

The game offers 16 levels, four of which are exclusive to the PSP, which include: Atlanta, Kyoto, Las Vegas, and Santa Cruz. The new levels are welcome enhancements to the game. The title features new guest skaters, goals, and level changing events. And up to four may play some ten wireless multi-player games. There are lots of fun multi-play activities here, but no online play.

Players can build their own parks as well as customize graphics for decks, stickers and more. There's also the ability to map one's face onto that of a skater by importing a digital photo onto the PSP's memory stick.

The graphics are detailed and attractive. The title is mostly non-violent, but features edgy language and song lyrics. There's not much here that younger kids probably haven't heard on TV and in movies, but it may be offensive to some parents.

Those who played Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on the PS2 won't find a new game experience here. But Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix for the PSP is a great game that is worth a look. And the PSP continues to amaze us with its considerable game playing prowess.
