While the title initially looks like yet another driving game, Atari's V-Rally 3 offers a fun rally racing simulation that's filled with compelling action, a great career mode and good multi-person play.

The game successfully recreates the cars and environments of rally racing and offers realistic races that let players race against time. While timed races may initially sound boring, they're actually challenging and entertaining.

The game comes with detailed recreations of rally cars that include the Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7, Citroen Xsara, Ford Focus and more. Players can customize cars with tires, suspensions, gearboxes and more. And there are six real-world locations that include England, Sweden, Finland, France, Germany, and Africa. During races, spectators scurry and cars deform-the physics are quite convincing.

The game's career mode is first rate and gives players the opportunity to prove themselves and eventually join teams. Careers in the game span over multiple seasons. The title also offers fun multi-player Time Attack and Challenge modes that accommodate up to four players. The graphics are detailed and depict realistic cars, terrain and weather effects that include rain, fog and more.

Rally racing is good, clean fun and V-Rally 3 definitely delivers the racing goods.
