Among Disney's recent animated features, Lilo & Stitch is a standout. The quirky film featured a fun friendship that almost anyone could relate to and the characters, music and animation came together to create a compelling and entertaining experience. With difficult footsteps to follow, but a strong franchise to ride, Lilo & Stitch 2 offers a decent sequel. It's not as good as the first film, but it captures many of the elements that made the first film so good.

The plot is a decent one and reminiscent of that in the original movie. Lilo is following in the footsteps of her mother and preparing to compete in a hula contest. Unfortunately, as the title implies, Stitch contracts a glitch that causes him to behave in erratic ways at any time.

In an annoying subplot, Pleakly offers love advice to David, a suitor for Lilo's sister, which is strictly there for strained comedy relief. But in the end, the Hawaiian concept of family, "Ohana," rules and solves all.

For a direct to DVD sequel, the animation is very good-it's not the usual step down from a feature movie. And there's lots here, from the Elvis Presley songs and musical interludes to the unusual characters that make it all work.

Lilo & Stitch 2 will enthrall fans of the original film and provide entertainment to everyone in the family. It's among the few direct-to-DVD releases of late that are worth a look.
