Gateway announced its new Gateway 450 notebook that features the new Intel Centrino technology. According the company, the notebook, which runs a mobile-optimized Intel Pentium-M processor, will offer enhanced battery life; integrated Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection 802.11b: a thin, lightweight and modular design and 15-inch display. The notebook ranges in weight from 5.79-6.13 pounds and measures less than 1.5 inches thick.
The company says that its Gateway 450 provides extended battery life of more than eight hours on a single charge. The Gateway 450 incorporates Intel Pentium-M processors that run between 1.30 to 1.60 GHz, the Intel 855PM chipset and integrated Intel PRO/Wireless network connection 802.11b. The new Intel Centrino mobile technology is designed to offer high-processing performance, 802.11b wireless capability, and power-management features to extend battery life. The integrated 802.11b capabilities may ensure that wireless connections may be made in places such as hotels, convention centers, and college campuses.

The Gateway 450 will initially be available in two configurations. The Gateway
450X, priced at $1,599, includes a Pentium-M processor 1.30 GHz, 15-inch SXGA+
TFT display, 256MB DDR RAM, 30GB hard drive, and DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo drive.
The Gateway 450XL, priced at $1,999, includes a 15-inch SXGA+ TFT display,
Pentium-M processor 1.50 GHz, 512MB DDR RAM, 40GB hard drive, and DVD-ROM/CD-RW
Combo drive.
