InterVideo announced InterVideo DVD Copy 2 Platinum and Gold editions for making identical copies of personal DVD and CD videos. According to the company, it's software is 25 percent faster and duplicates unencrypted DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs with no loss of quality, content or features. It also offers more customization features for creating personalized DVDs. In addition to all of the features found in the Gold edition, the Platinum version includes a merging feature that lets users combine multiple DVD titles onto a single 4.7GB DVD, complete with automatic menu generation.
The Multiple
DVD Merging feature is designed to group
DVD videos of vacations, birthdays, a child's entire
soccer season or other special events onto a single DVD.
The software's performance has been enhanced with direct
burn capabilities that save time and enable users to copy
directly from the source to a blank disc without having to
buffer the video to the hard drive first.
The software
offers a wizard-style interface to help create
duplicates of personal videos in three steps. Users select the source, destination
(CD-R/RW, DVD+/-R/RW/-RAM disc or hard drive) and the video output format
(DVD, VCD, SVCD, DivX, or M-DVD). When the user clicks the burn button, the
software's Autofit feature determines the amount of compression needed to
produce the best-looking results for the output selected. With this feature,
users should be able to copy dual-layer DVD-Videos onto a single blank DVD
without any visual quality loss.
After copying a DVD-Video to their PC's hard drive in the MPEG-1, MPEG-2 or DivX format, users should be able to click on the software's Customize Button to add and delete chapters, remove subtitles and audio tracks or change the aspect ratio. By including InterVideo's UniPass technology, DVD Copy 2 users do not need to re-render videos that have simple editing fixes because the technology integrates DVD creation and editing together, which may save time.
Consumers who don't own a DVD burner may use DVD Copy 2 to backup their DVD-Videos to CDs in the VCD, SVCD or DivX CD format. The discs can be played back by most set-top DVD players and computer CD-ROM drives in use today.
InterVideo DVD Copy 2 is available now at InterVideo's web site and at retail outlets within the next few weeks. Compatible with Windows 2000 and XP systems, the suggested list prices are $49.95 for the Gold version, which does not include the Multiple DVD Merging or DivX CD features; and $79.95 for the full Platinum version.
