Depending on the crowds, most families should be able to experience Universal Studios Hollywood in a single a day. To save time, you may purchase tickets via the internet so you don't have to wait in line at the park's ticket booths. To get the most out of your day, you'll want to arrive at the park at opening time in the morning. Even on the most crowded summer days, the park often thins out in the later hours. However, you can't always count on this.

We provide the following tips for best experiencing the park and dealing with the crowds. Please keep in mind that our recommendations don't provide a relaxing or leisurely way to spend a day at the park. Our tips can help you make the most of your time and get you onto the main attractions in the most efficient way.

Universal Studios has distinct upper and lower levels. When you first enter the park, you'll find yourself at the upper level. If you arrive when the park opens, you'll find that the lower level typically opens later. The key to working the morning is finding out when the lower level opens and then experiencing as much as you can on the upper level until the lower level allows visitors to come down.

The first attractions to try and see on the upper level are Terminator 2: 3D or Shrek 4-D. If there's time, you can try and catch the other major attraction that you missed. And if you're really fast, you may be able to squeeze in Back to the Future: The Ride.

Once the lower level opens, take the escalator down and walk directly to Revenge of the Mummy - The Ride. Follow the Mummy with a trip through Jurassic Park. After getting wet on Jurassic Park, visit the Special Effects Stages and experience Backdraft.

From here, you can take the escalator back to the upper level to ride the tram on the Studio Tour, and then see shows and the remaining attractions.
